Jozef Masarik

Born in 1959 in Slovak village Jalovec. Professor of physics at the Department of Nuclear Physics of the Faculty of mathematics, Physics, and Informatics, Comenius University in Bratislava. At present he is vice rector of Comenius University in Bratislava and Cairman  of Slovak Research and Development Agency. His research field is nuclear physics, particle physics and their applications in geophysics and space sciences. Especially he is interested in cosmic rays and their interactions with various space objects. During his long term stays at Los Alamos National Laboratories, UC Berkeley and Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in Mainz he participated in a few space missions mainly to Mars. He published more than 250 papers in the field of physics, geophysics, and space physics. He is active in promotion of science in general public and management of science and education in Slovakia.
