Dr Zoltán Lőrinczi was the Deputy State Secretary for the Development of Hungarian Education in the Carpathian Basin from June 2018, up until his appointment in September 2019 as Secretary of State for International Affairs.

Areas of research and activities: education and research policies, innovation, knowledge management, network research, change management, organization management and organizing, clinical medicine.

He earned his PhD degree in 2000, and he is the author of 42 scientific publications. He was a Royal Society Research Scholarship holder during his studies at Oxford University between 1991 and 1993. Between 2003 and 2004 he worked on a research project of the European Union on neuroscience at the University of Antwerp.

He has 26 years of teaching experience: he worked as assistant lecturer from 1993, as university assistant professor from 2000 and as docent at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Târgu Mureș from 2007 to 2018. In 2004 he was founder lecturer of the scientific research methodology course and from 2009 the lecturer of this course at the Doctoral School of the National Institute of Oncology. Since 2018 he works part-time as docent at Corvinus University of Budapest.

He has eight years of top management experience: between 2010 and 2018 he was Medical Director of the 1400-bed emergency hospital of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Târgu Mureș with 3800 employees. Under his leadership the institute achieved 2 national accreditation processes and 6 significant investment projects.
