I am a freelance journalist writing for different media, mainly in Austria and Germany. I have a background in biology and ethnology (BSc, BA) and studied Science Communication at Imperial College London, which led to a MSc degree. Since then, I have been working on topics ranging from academic publishing and its pitfalls (for example during an investigative project on predatory publishers together with Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin), Austria's science landscape (numerous article for one of Austria's leading daily newspapers "Der Standard") and inquiries for monthly magazine DATUM (on topic ranging from ethical questions surrounding the climate crisis to interviews with a more social scientific focus). Currently, I hold a stipend for science journalism by the Austrian Academy of Science and am researching the emergence of new technologies within animal testing by also focusing on prior biases like the gender data gap - a topic I would like to find inspiration at this conference.
