 Dr. Ganesh Raj Joshi is an expert in sustainable urban development and disaster risk reduction. Currently, Dr. Joshi is working as a Researcher at the United Nations Centre for Regional Development, Nagoya, Japan. Prior to this, he worked as a Lecturer in Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Dr. Joshi has a Ph.D. in Marine and Environmental Sciences with specialization in geodynamics and disaster risk reduction (earthquake) from the University of the Ryukyus, Japan. For his excellent academic achievement and research findings in doctoral degree, Dr. Joshi was awarded with the President Honorary Award  for outstanding student from University of the Ryukyus, Japan in 2010. Dr. Joshi is actively involved in research and policy development for building cities and communities safe, smart, resilient, liveable and sustainable through people-and-environmentally friendly low-carbon transport solutions. He has published numerous research articles and policy papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals in the areas of low-carbon transport, resilient and liveable cities, environment pollution, natural disasters, climate change and other sustainable development areas.
