Dr. Bálint Hartmann received M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering and obtained his Ph.D. degree from Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) in 2008 and 2013, respectively. He is associate professor at the Department of Electric Power Engineering. He was guest researcher at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Institute for Automation and Applied Informatics in 2015. He is part-time research fellow at the Centre for Energy Research. He is former Board Member of the Hungarian Electrotechnical Association and current Chair of IEEE PES Hungary Chapter. His fields of interest include the role of energy storage in the power system, computer modelling and simulation of distribution networks and integration of variable renewable energy sources.

He is the leader of FASTER Excellence Research Group, one of four such groups at BME. His research and development project expertise includes 25 projects in the last 5 years. He is work package and task leader in ongoing H2020 projects (FLEXITRANSTORE, Grant No. 774407, INTERRFACE, Grant No. 824330 and FARCROSS, Grant No. 864274).
