George Gruner is Distinguished Research Professor UCLA, USA. He is involved in research, R/D and technology development. His early research on the fundamental electronic properties of materials was followed by invention focused R/D activity. He has developed a platform technology based on nanoscale networks with applications in a wide range of industries. He is the author of over 600 publications and inventor of over two dozen issued patents. He is the founder of several startup companies. Among other ventures, between 2001 and 2005 he was the CTO and Chief Scientist of Nanomix, a company developing nano-scale biosensors. In 2005 he founded, and was the first CEO of Unidym, the company focusing on printed electronics products. Dr. Gruner serves as advisor to various organizations including universities, start-up companies, investment firms, and governments. His current engagements focus on lab-to-fab-to-app issues and the innovation-driven translation of inventions to useful products.

His recognitions include the Guggenheim and the Alexander von Humboldt awards. He, and two of the companies he led are the recipients of Technology Pioneer Awards given by the World Economic Forum. He is a foreign member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and Honorary Professor at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
