Mogens Thomsen, MD, PhD, is a specialist in clinical immunology from the University of Copenhagen. He joined Inserm (France) in 1983 and has been head of various research groups at university hospitals in Toulouse. He has worked on the major histocompatibility complex in humans and its association with autoimmune diseases and has developed experimental preclinical models for the study of transplant vasculopathy. From 2004 to 2012 he was appointed expert at the European Commission in the SCENIHR (Scientific Committee for Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks, European Commission, Health Directorate). Since 2008 he is Emeritus Director of Research in Toulouse working in a research team of the joint Unit Inserm/University Toulouse III Paul Sabatier UMR 1027: Epidemiology and analyses of public health. He was the scientific adviser for the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) in Toulouse in 2018. He participates in the RDA-SHARC interest group and in the Fairplus IMI European project and he is member of the societal platform “Ethics and biosciences” at Genotoul in Toulouse. He is also an active member of MURS (Mouvement Universel de la Responsabilité Scientifique), a French NGO working on scientific integrity and relations to society http://murs.fr/. He is author and co-author of about 200 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals.
