Anas Tawileh is the Managing Director of Knowlege Practices International, based in Oakville, Canada. He holds a PhD in Information Assurance and an MSc in Information Systems Engineering from Cardiff University, UK. Anas is a computational linguistics enthusiast and a vocal advocate for free software, openness and language diversity on the web. He conducted extensive research on the status of the Arabic language on the web, and worked on, consulted for, and advised several projects and international organizations aiming to develop and increase  the quantity and quality of the Arabic digital content, including King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), the International Development Research Centre of Canada (IDRC) and the United Nations Development Programme. He wrote many articles in professional and academic publications, and authored and translated several books (including Open Source: Unlimited Opportunities, Democratizing Innovation – Arabic Edition, Wireless Networking in the Developing World – Arabic Edition, and Information Security: The Complete Guide). Anas sits on the International Advisory Board of the Global Text Project, and on several academic committees for international conferences.
