Dilgam Babir Taghiyev,  in 1966 entered full-time chemistry faculty of Azernaycan State University. In 1974 defended PhD and in 1984 defended doctoral thesis at the Institute of Organic Chemistry (Moscow).

    Scientific activity has been devoted to the development and study of the mechanism of influence heterogenous and homogenous catalysis for hydrogenation, isomerization, oxidation,  oxidehydrogenation, alkylation, oligomerization and other reaction of various class hydrocarbons, synthesis and research biologically activ metal-complexes, study and modeling some physico-chemical processes.

    Author of more than 750 articles, monographs, books and textbooks, sertificates of authorship and patents.

     At present he is vice-president of National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, academician, professor, doctor of chemical sciences, director of the Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry, editor on chief of Azerbaijan Chemical Journal.
