Maria Szabo graduated as medical doctor at PÉCS University. Postgraduation in public health, food safety and nutrition. PhD thesis was in mycotoxins and related human risks. Main focus of her carried was food safety and human health. She was general director of Hungarian Food Safety Office (MÉBIH), later on director of risk assessment directorate of the newly established National Food Chain Safety Office (NÉBIH). Served as member of Advisory Forum of European Food Safety Autorithy (EFSA) since the establishment of EFSA till her retirement.
