Sally Musungu graduated with a  BSc in Seed Science and Technology from Moi University, Kenya, in 2011. With the support of a United Kingdom Commonwealth Scholarship she studied towards an MSc in Sustainable Crop Production at the University of Warwick, which she completed in 2014. Her studies have provided Sally with training in project management, biostatistics, agronomy, science journalism and environmental research.

The PhD research in London focuses on the impact of climate change on food security in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Smallholder farmers in SSA are frequently food insecure and are particularly susceptible to changes in temperature that affect agricultural production. Under future projections, climate change will create novel climates around the globe that will significantly impact agricultural production while overall demand for food is expected to increase. Sally’s study assesses how farmers may adapt to such changes, and what factors may help them to better cope with safeguarding food security and their livelihoods.
