I am employed by the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini in the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) as a Senior Science Officer within the Department of Research, Science, Technology and Innovation.

The main mandate is to promote and facilitate the integration of research, science, technology and innovation into the policy, planning and the national development process.

The specific mandate for my position is to support ongoing research and development and demonstration of technology based solutions with the intention of promoting the commercialisation and use thereof. Also to provide system- based leadership across the National System of Innovation, including regulatory and compliance functions, and support that seek to optimise the commercialisation and use of technology based solutions.

Part of my mandate also includes contributing to the development of representative, high-level human capital able to pursue locally relevant, globally competitive research and innovation activities. Also, through knowledge, evidence and learning, to inform and influence how science and technology can be used to transform rural and socio-economic development, government planning and service delivery, and the building of sustainable human settlements.
