Eeva Hellström is Senior Lead in Foresight and Strategy at the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, which is an independent and future oriented public think-and-do tank.

Eeva has been active in developing the knowledge-policy interface most of her career. Presently, Eeva leads Sitra’s Knowledge in Decision-Making project (2017-19), which focusses on identifying changes needed in the knowledge-policy interface when dealing with increasingly complex social phenomena in a rapidly changing, digitalizing and volatile information environment.

After joining Sitra in 2008, she has also facilitated Finland’s expert panel on sustainable development, coordinated Sitra’s participation in Vision Europe – a consortium of leading European think tanks, and established Sitra’s societal training and development function aimed at training decision-makers throughout the Finnish society.

Eeva has a DSc degree in environmental economics. In addition to the knowledge-policy interface her research and development interests include natural resources policy, sustainable economy, public governance and societal change.

Being also forester by professional training, she has been director of the Forest Academy for Decision-Makers (1996-2008), chair of the Finnish Forest Research Institute (2012-14), and vice chair of the European Forest Institute (2015-17). Presently, Eeva is chair of the Finnish Forest Centre and chair of the Finnish Forest Association.
