Muhammad Ansar is working as Professor in Department of Biochemistry, Quaid-I-Azam University, Islamabad. Since 2003, he is exploring the genetics of inherited disorders like hearing impairment, intellectual disability and retinal dystrophies, which are quite common in the Pakistani population. He has completed a two-year Postdoctoral fellowship from the Department of Molecular & Human Genetics, Baylor College of Medicine, USA, which allowed him to learn and practice skills related to next generation sequencing and data analysis. Mr. Ansar is member of Pakistan academy of Sciences, and American Society of Human Genetics. He has been awarded Pakistan Academy of Sciences gold medal in year 2010 and Prof. A.R Shakoori gold medal in Biological Sciences in year 2016. He has participated in Biovision 2011 (Lyon, France) and WSF2015 (Budapest, Hungary). He has been involved in the counseling of families with various inherited disorders.
