Dr. Amal Amin is an associate professor for nanotechnology/polymers at national research center at Cairo- Egypt with large number of publications, projects, awards and other research activities. She studied in, worked at and travelled to several countries (+35 countries, tens of times) including Germany (PhD-DAAD), USA, France, etc. She was cofounder and executive committee member of the global and Egyptian young academies (GYA, EYAS) where she was the first Egyptian young scientist who attended world economic forum-Summer DAVOS 2009, 2010-China based on the initiative of IAP to empower the young scientists worldwide. She attended and coorganized the founding workshop of (GYA) in Berlin (2010) acting as GYA-EC member (2010-2013). She was president and cofounder of the Egyptian society for advanced materials and nanotechnology. She was TWAS young affiliate and TWAS-AAAS science diplomacy alumni. She was invited to and actively participated at meetings of IAP, TWAS, TWAS-TYAN, GYA, WSF, AAAS, UNESCO and INGSA on science policy and science advice in 2016 & 2018 in Belgium and Japan, and other big scientific high level meetings. Now, she is advisory board member of EYAS, founding fellow of the academy of engineering and technology (AETDEW), member of TWAS-TYAN network and other reputable organizations. She is founding chair of women in science without borders’ (WISWB) initiative, network and World forum for women in science conferences. She has been recently featured in women in science-inspiring stories from Africa (NASAC-IAP-2017) and others. She is especially interested in science communication, increasing public awareness/literacy for science, science advice/diplomacy, innovation, science policy, etc.
