Algiers University Professor in Physics Sciences since 1976; Expert with the International Atomic Energy Agency Vienna, Austria (1983-1986); Secretary of State for Scientific Research (1992-1993); Chairman of the Board of the Algerian Atomic Energy Commission (2001-2007); Founding Member and first President of the Algerian Academy of Sciences and Technology from 2015 to date.

Research activities addressed nuclear physics at low energies, with focus on the structure of light nuclei and the nuclear reactions mechanisms. Research are now orientated towards nuclear physics applications in medical physics and in radiation dosimetry for human health and environmental benefits. Research results are reported in numerous international publications.
