Dr. Ali Al-Sawalmih is a German Professor and the Director of the Research Center "Marine Science Station" -the University of Jordan (UJ) in Aqaba, Jordan. He is also an adjunct researcher at the Max-Planck Institute for Colloids and Interfaces (MPIKG) in Potsdam, Germany.  Before joining the UJ, he was a full-time researcher at the Max-Planck Institute for Colloids and Interfaces (MPIKG) in Germany for almost 5 years. He earned his PhD degree on Marine Calcification from the Max-Planck Institute for Iron Research (MPIE)/RWTH Aachen in 2007 and his MSc degree on materials physics from the Max Planck Institute for Solid-State Research (MPIFKF)/University of Stuttgart in 2004 in Germany. His research interests are focused on nanostructure of marine calcified tissues and his contributions are mainly toward explaining the role of sustainable coastal development in mitigation of negative impacts of anthropogenic activities on marine ecosystems. He published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and reviewed many articles.
