Gabriella Pásztor is an experimental particle physicist working in the CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) Collaboration at the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) of CERN (European Organisation for Nuclear Research). She founded in 2015, with the support of the Momentum "Lendület" program of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the CMS group at Eötvös University.

 

Her research focuses on the investigation of new physics phenomena at high-energy particle colliders and on testing the validity of the standard model of particle physics through precision measurements. She contributed to the discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012 (then as a member of the CERN LHC ATLAS Collaboration).  She continues to study Higgs production, now as a tool to uncover the fundamental physics that lies beyond the standard model and might explain the secrets of the Universe, such as the nature of dark matter.

 

She teaches particle and nuclear physics, as well as detector instrumentation at Eötvös University. She is committed to improve science communication and education. She considers international collaboration and science education as means to promote peace and catalists for development.
