Joseph Paul Forgasm BA (Hons), (Macquarie), D.Phil., D.Sc. (Oxford)m is Scientia Professor at the University of New South Wales. He is the author/editor of over 30 books, and over 200 journal articles and chapters. His research area is experimental social psychology, and his recent work focused on investigating the role of affective states in social cognition and  interpersonal behaviour. His work has received over 30 000 citations, and he has an h-index of 85. In recognition of his work he received the Order of Australia, the Humboldt Research Prize (Germany), the Rockefeller Fellowship (USA), and has been elected Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia, the Society of Experimental Social Psychology, the Society of Personality and Social Psychology and the Association of Psychological Science, and he is external Fellow of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He is international co-editor of the Frontiers of Social Psychology Series, and is editor and convener of the Sydney Symposium of Social Psychology book series, published by Psychology Press, New York.
